This position is part of the Security Services, Government Publishing Office in Washington,
District of Columbia.
Duties
Manage and perform the more complex assignments of the Security Engineering Program.
Provide security reports to develop Executive Orders and federal policies.
Acts as the expert liaison for the for the life safety fire alarm system.
Plans, analyzes designs, develops tests, configures, installs, implements, maintains, provides quality assurance, and manages security networked access control system.
Train all Physical Security Specialist and Uniform Officers.
Requirements
- You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
- Selectee may be required to pass preemployment requirements prior to appointment.
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance.
- Selectee may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify
- Primarily the duties are performed in an office setting. However, the incumbent will be required to visit manufacturing areas where work is performed in a production environment where there is exposure to noise, ink mist, odors/fumes, spray powder,
- CONT. paper and plastic dust from production related equipment and machinery. Ear protection, eye protection and safety shoes are provided as necessary.
- Physical Demands: Inspects office area and manufacturing facilities at GPO which includes limited access spaces that require bending, stooping reaching, and/or crawling.
- CONT. Occasionally physical activity is required during the inspection of installed equipment or during the installation of new equipment.
- CONT. Duties may require prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending, stretching, reaching above the shoulder, and climbing.
- CONT. A moderate amount of hand, wrist, and arm movements is involved. Moderate lifting may be required for objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Physical Security Specialist, PG - 0080 - 14 , you must meet the following requirements:
To qualify for the PG-14 grade level: Minimum qualification requirements for the Physical Security Specialist (Security Engineer) position can be met by possessing one year of specialized experience at the PG-13 (or equivalent).
Specialized experience is defined as experience at one year of PG-0080-14 level which includes:
1) Troubleshooting and resolving issues in information, electronic, physical, or industrial security;
2) Analyzing and planning the developing of security policies; and
3) Preparing and conducting training of security methods and techniques.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used or this grade level.
