This position is located in the U.S. International Trade Commission, Office of Administrative Services, Office of Human Resources. There is the possibility of extension for the duration of time enrolled in an accredited academic institution based on workload requirements and budget availability.
Duties
As a Pathways Intern, you will be responsible for the following:
Performing a variety of record keeping, reporting, and informational duties in support of the office's programs.
Recording and filing information on cases, projects, and/or studies in established filing system.
Monitoring stock levels of office supplies and ordering them when necessary.
Updating manuals on policies, directives, and memoranda.
Opening and sorting correspondence and preparing routing slips for incoming publications and other materials.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. citizen or national.
- You must be able to obtain a background security investigation.
- You will be required to sign a Pathways Program Participant Agreement.
- You must meet the criteria for Internship under the Pathways Program.
- You are required to register for Selective Service if you are a male born after 12/03/1959.
- You may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

To be eligible for basic consideration, all Pathways Interns must:
Be enrolled, or accepted for enrollment, on at least a half-time basis, at a qualifying educational institution.
Be seeking a diploma, degree, or certificate.
Be in good academic standing and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.

To qualify at the GS-4 level, you must have one full year of general experience which is defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

Completion of 2 academic years of post-high school study or associate's degree.

Combination of education and experience that meet the qualification requirements for this position.
To qualify at the GS-5 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level obtained in the federal or private sector which is defined as: reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness; typing and formatting correspondence and forms; obtaining information from files or general reference sources; recording messages and scheduling appointments; performing routine administrative functions.
OR
Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.
OR
Combination of education and experience that meet the qualification requirements for this position.
To qualify at the GS-7 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level obtained in the federal or private sector which is defined as: reviewing and formatting complex documents and correspondence for accuracy and completeness with minimum supervision; obtaining information from files or general reference sources; recording messages and scheduling appointments; performing routine administrative functions.
OR
Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education.
OR
Superior Academic Achievement - you meet one of the requirements listed in the superior academic achievement description. (1) Class Standing - Upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision based on completed courses; OR (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - Grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.; OR (3) Honor Society Membership - Membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org) AND completion of a bachelor's degree.
