You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PIPING INTERNAL SHOP MANAGER in the Pipe Shop (Code 960), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will review, approve, and direct work operations in the execution of a project within an assigned zone of work.
You will determine total resource requirements and allocation based on schedules and work sequences which often change significantly from year to year.
You will take necessary actions to achieve cost and schedule commitments.
You will determine and provide resolution of operational and maintenance problems with shipyard and ship's personnel.
You will initiate or attend meetings concerning work status.
You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short term priorities, and prepare schedules for the completion of work.
You will assign work based on priorities.
Requirements

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position requires that the selectee be willing and able to climb ladders and scaffolding.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience serving at the first level supervisor level (WS-10).
Experience making decisions in difficult situations and identifying and resolving changing work situations.
Experience applying principles, concepts, and practices concerning the Piping Shop.
Experience monitoring Cost and Schedule Performance and taking actions to correct negative trends.
Experience utilizing knowledge of Piping Practices to review, approve, and direct work operations.
Experience in Project Management, quality control, cost control, schedule control, and work flow control techniques.
