National Defense University (NDU) supports the joint warfighter by providing rigorous Joint Professional Military Education to members of the U.S. Armed Forces and select others in order to develop leaders who have the ability to operate and creatively think in an unpredictable and complex world.
Duties
Serves as the primary administrative correspondence expert responsible for formatting and editing correspondence, publications, guides, and regulations.
Plans/coordinates/executes events/engagements with senior executives, creates/processes invites/thank you letters, and creates/manages knowledge management tools, websites, and social media platforms.
Coordinates global travel, makes air/ground transportation and lodging arrangements, prepares trip books/itineraries, processes travel orders/vouchers, prepares/submits country clearances, and passport/visa requirements.
Supports the preparation and processing of time and attendance documents for civilian employees ensuring all attendance records and timecards are properly input and certified by the appropriate authority.
Collects requirements, submits/tracks requisitions for and maintains office supplies/course materials, tracks inventory, maintains stock in classrooms and office areas, labels/maintains mailboxes, delivers supplies and mail.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- Obtain and maintain Secret clearance.
Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-07 for GS-09 and GS-09 for GS-11 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience must be documented in your resume.
Specialized Experience is defined as:
For the GS-09: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07. Specialized Experience is defined as: experience preparing agendas or correspondence, making arrangements for meetings or travel, compiling data and reports for executives and managing executive's schedules.
For the GS-11: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09. Specialized Experience is defined as: experience developing plans for day-to-day or long-range projects, maintaining operating schedules and long-range calendars, coordinate travel, and provide guidance to other administrative personnel.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Education is substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level.
For the GS-09: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's or equivalent graduate degree may besubstituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.

For the GS-11: Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.
