You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NON-NUCLEAR STRUCTURAL ASSESSMENT IMPROVEMENT COORDINATOR in the Quality Assurance Manager (Code 900Q), Production Department Analysis and Business Manager (Code 900A), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900)of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will review, approve and direct work operations in the execution of a project within an assigned zone of work.
You will take necessary actions to achieve cost and schedule commitments.
You will coordinate with inside shops, ship’s force and various shipyard departments for testing.
You will determine and provide resolution of operational and maintenance problems with shipyard and ship’s personnel.
You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
You will conduct internal program, process and ship overhaul audits to identify quality problems and opportunities for improvements.
You will conduct investigations of reported equipment/system failures to identify responsible parties, root causes and corrective actions needed to prevent recurrence.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying, a comprehensive range of principle, concepts, and practices concerning shipyard work operations, and shop practices.
Experience applying production trade work and technical method, procedures, materials and processes associated with the repair and overhaul of complex Navy vessel.
Experience interpreting naval shipyard policies and procedures as related to engineering, planning, production and administration.
Experience utilizing of wide range of complex products used in ship repair including specification, fabrication processes, test/measuring techniques and quality characteristics.
Experience conducting effective audits/investigations of shipyard programs, processes and products and analyzing result· on a cumulative basis to identify quality trends.
