This position will be assigned to the Air Force Services Center.
This is a regular full-time category position with guaranteed 40 hrs per week. Employees appointed to a regular category position are eligible for benefits.
Duties
Works in the Shared Service Center, General Accounting Branch, General Ledger (GL) Section. The GL Section controls the Air Force Services Financial Management System (AFSFMS) automated processes responsible for receiving, classifying, and posting asset, liability, owner's equity, revenue, and expenses to the general ledger chart of accounts and GL module. Performs the full range of accounting general ledger duties using double-entry accrual accounting methods in reconciling subsidiary ledgers and posting to general ledger accounts. Performs a monthly reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts and their subsidiary ledgers to assure that reports are in balance. Diligently researches account discrepancies and out-of-balance conditions. Maintains proper supporting documents to ensure proper audit trail of all financial transactions. Processes journal entry imports through manual and automated methods after exercising proper validation of transactions. Posts journal entries to GL and verifies correctness and accuracy of posting entries. Assists NAF SSC customers with issues or questions on closeout of all accounts. Uses knowledge of the overall accounting system from initiation through expenditure stages to trace discrepancies in the AFSFMS accounting system. Traces discrepancies in response to NAF SSC customer queries or other NAF SSC branch requests to posted documents. Computes operational expenses incurred by individual activities for general ledger services provided, and assigns charges appropriately. Performs general ledger work functions independently at the full performance level of accounting duties assigned. May be required to assist in training new employees on the AFSFMS. Performs other related duties as assigned. May be required to travel by military and/or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty or training assignments to locations both in the United States and overseas.

Qualifying Experience:
Experience with double-entry accrual methods, the interrelationship of accounts and the effects of debit and credit transactions on the general ledger, and an understanding of the relationship between the general ledger and subsidiary accounts and extensive subdivision of accounts. Experience with training methods and preparation of training/briefing materials. Experience with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Experience with accounting practices and procedures is desirable.
Ability to comprehend accounting functions in the Oracle E-Business Suite System or similar commercial accounting system.
Able to problem solve with little or no supervision.
Able to process basic functions/calculations within Excel spreadsheets.
Able to function in a teleworking environment utilizing VPN, Zoom, Skype and Teams.
The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
