You will serve as an Electronics Technician inside the Surface Weapons and Control Branch (Code 210.2A) in the Fleet Technical Support Division (Code 210) of the Engineering Planning Department (Code 200) at PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. GS-11: $75,640 - $98,330 GS-12: $90,662 - $117,856

Duties

You will serve as Test Coordinator/Team Leader of organized teams involving not less than five GS-11 subordinates (or contractor equivalents) with responsibility for functional check-out, test, and inspection of major systems. You will provide immediate authoritative technical assistance on urgent mission degrading CASREPS or similar problems affecting major systems. You will provide technical assistant on technical problems beyond the capability of forces afloat or repair activities to diagnose and correct. You will represent Naval Sea Systems Command in the inspection and functional checkout/demonstration of major shipboard systems. You will, under the direction of senior engineers, perform special engineering analyses and studies for the purpose of developing or evaluating improvements in design, maintenance procedures, material, etc. You will participate as a team member in functional checkouts, grooms, adjustments, and repair of shipboard systems. You will participate in the installation of SHIPALTs and Engineering Changes.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position requires exposure to high noise levels.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds in weight.
  • This position requires the incumbent have depth perception, the ability to distinguish basic colors, and the ability to distinguish shades of colors.

Qualifications

GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing electronics technical services operating, maintaining and troubleshooting the Aegis Weapon System and subsystems (i.e. MK99, AN/SPY-1B, AN/SPY-1D, ORTS, ADS, and ACTS) to ensure combat readiness of the Fleet. GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-10) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing electronics technical services operating, maintaining or troubleshooting the Aegis Weapon System and subsystems (i.e. MK99, AN/SPY-1B, AN/SPY-1D, ORTS, ADS, and ACTS) to ensure combat readiness of the Fleet.
