You will serve as a Electronics Technician in the Engineering and Planning Department, Fleet Technical Support Division, Surface Weapons and Control Branch - Code 210.2A of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. Salary Range: GS-11: $71,877 - $93,437 GS-12: $86,151 - $111,996

Duties

You will provide technical services for complex Gun Control System (GCS) and their various interfaces to other dependent systems. You will provide Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) to Pacific Fleet ships operating in the Pearl Harbor area and other locations for these systems as assigned. You will serve as SME for shipboard technical assistance on functional problems that have been determined to be beyond the capability of organizational level, intermediate Maintenance Level Activities and ship repair facilities. You will serve as Test coordinator/Team Leader of organized teams responsible for functional check-out, test and inspection of major systems such as TSRA/C5RA, SHIPALT installations, resolving conflict and establishing work schedules. You will provide authoritative technical assistance on urgent mission degrading CASPEPS or similar problems affecting major systems, requiring direct communication with ships officers and exercising tact and persuasion. You will provide technical services in connection with on-scene direct fleet support of gun control systems and systems, namely, MK 160 Gun Computer System, MK 46 Optical Sight System, MK 20 Electro-Optic Sensor System.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing technical electronics services related to Gun Control Systems, Optical Sight System, or Electro-Optic Sensor System by testing, inspecting, and modifying major mechanical subsystems on surface ships. GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying technical electronics services related to Gun Control Systems, Optical Sight System, or Electro-Optic Sensor System by recommending modernization of major mechanical subsystems on surface ships.
