You will serve as a Lead Engineering Technician (Naval Architect) in the Structural Engineering & Planning Division of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.
Duties
You will provide technical direction for naval architecture/structural engineering requirements on surface ship/submarine structures for all non-nuclear support work.
You will provide technical direction, guidance, and assistance in the development and implementation of training programs as required to support accomplishment of cognizant non-nuclear work on surface ship/submarine structures and components.
You will conduct engineering studies, investigations, research, technical risk assessments/recommendations/other required actions to address planned/emergent issues and analysis for the solution of unusual/ unprecedented engineering problems.
You will serve as Branch POC for Critiques/Team Learning Sessions/Deckplate TLSs and Trouble Reports while serving as the root cause analysis expert, TLS chair and member of the work team and support Command in the event of a major Incident on ship.
You will be responsible, within the confines of the assignment, for developing, adapting,
modifying, and/or improving processes where there is little or no precedent.
You will participate in structural/stability assessments, that may require participating in sea trials to support
Command level efforts and to ensure that assigned ships are safe to sail.
You will estimate direct labor and material requirements for each job; man hour allowances, by shop
work center or trade skill designator, for each work step (or phase) utilizing standards and other
estimating guides.
You will interpret and ensure compliance with technical and contractual requirements, standards, and
policies.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing engineering process expertise for surface ship/submarine maintenance, repair and modernization to assist in developing, adapting, modifying or improving processes to ensure vessel readiness.
