Duties
Strength and Conditioning Coach for Division I intercollegiate athletic teams. Manages all facets of the strength and conditioning program for assigned teams. Instructs cadet athletes in weight training and strength and conditioning programs. Effectively assists in all organizational aspects of the intercollegiate strength and conditioning program, to include but not limited to: programming assigned teams comprehensive training and conditioning cycles, workout planning and execution. Collaborates with sport coaches and health and human performance professionals to establish and meet performance, safety, and injury prevention goals. For assigned teams and faculty duties, conducts lesson planning, scheduling, budgeting, maintenance of supply and equipment accounts and safety of athletic facilities and physical training. Manages training programs in full compliance with the rules, regulations, and bylaws of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Western Athletic Conference (WAC), Mountain West Conference (MWC) or other applicable conference affiliation and the U.S. Air Force Academy. Provides guidance to assistant coaches to ensure the professional conduct and performance of program's staff.
Instructs undergraduate Physical Education courses. Prepares course materials according to published course descriptions and delivers well-organized instruction to facilitate student learning. Counsels and evaluates assigned cadets as appropriate. Effectively provides student assessment and motivation. Provides extra instruction outside normal class and practice hours for cadets who require or request it. Serves as a course director when required by the Department of Physical Education.
Performs a variety of administrative functions, as required, to ensure the timely and effective offering of physical education courses and athletic programs. Keeps abreast of current training and coaching methods to ensure the most innovative and effective methods are being used. Participates in faculty governance by attending department and faculty meetings and serving, when requested, on departmental committees. Provides appropriate advice and counsel to improve the quality of educational/athletic programs. Maintains the professional and ethical standards of the USAF Academy. Proactively embraces the USAF Academy Core Values, Institutional Outcomes, Character Development Outcomes and USAF Academy regulations and operating instructions. Accepts responsibility as a role model and mentor to the cadets in their courses and programs. Maintains memberships in appropriate professional organizations, attends conventions, maintains liaison with others in the field to include military and civilian universities, and follows new developments to stay current with coaching and teaching techniques. Manages, administers, and instructs additional duty projects such as summer sports camps as directed by the Executive Director of Athletic Programs.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum requirement is a bachelor's degree in Sports Science or related field, CSCS certification, and demonstrated experience and proficiency in the primary field of specialization - Strength and Conditioning.
ACADEMIC DISCIPLINES:
Sport Science.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in Sport Science, Exercise Science, or related field preferred.
Minimum of two years' experience working as Strength and Conditioning coach with collegiate, professional, or Olympic level athletes.
Prior experience in exercise science or Physical Education instruction, teaching, and administration.
Candidates will have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.
Leadership experience in curriculum development and academic assessment is desired.
Applicants will be assessed based on education, evidence of coaching and teaching effectiveness, quality of scholarship, and demonstrated service to educational institutions and the discipline commensurate with years in the discipline

FOREIGN EDUCATION:
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the educational requirements. However, you must show proof that the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in a conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying in the form of an "official" statement of U.S. equivalency from a Department of Education approved (non-federal) agency (i.e. AICE, NACES), who will complete a U.S. Standard of Education Conversion.
