The primary purpose of this position is to function as the primary administrative assistant ensuring assigned personnel are qualified and ready to meet Air Expeditionary Force requirements by managing the squadron's unit deployment readiness, serving as a resource advisory assistant, and other administrative support tasks as assigned.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and oversees all unit level deployment activities.
Serves as the functional point of contact for day-to-day budget/financial issues.
Performs administrative work in support of the office/organization.
Directly assists the commander in the management of all administrative support program functions.

- Required to complete mandatory UDM training to include IDS/LOGMOD training, AEF Reporting Tool (ART), Status of Resources and Training (SORTS), and Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS) training.
- Required to complete Government Purchase Card (GPC) training, Government Travel Card (GTC) training, and Defense Travel System (DTS) training.
- Work may occasionally required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
- May be required to work other than normal duty hours to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Emergency overtime may be required.
- This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes providing assistance to support the provision of services to military personnel and their families and DoD civilian employees in meeting the competing demands of the military mission, coping with deployment, and family life; knowledge of required social and community service resources in the local area; practical knowledge of all community related program functions, regulations and procedures, as well as, sources of detailed information on specific questions in order to determine the type and requests for information performing office automation support using multiple automated programs and software to produce a wide range of documents such as graphics or tables within text to edit and reformat drafts, and to update or revise existing databases or spreadsheets (i.e., Word, Excel, Power Point, Email Exchange, Internet and databases.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the organizational and functional responsibilities and operations of an organization.
2. Knowledge of a wide range of federal and agency deployment/mobilization concepts, principles, practices, procedures, regulations, and laws.
3. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.
4. Skill in preparing written forms, schedules, and reports related to the obligation and expenditures of funds by applying applicable procedures and guidelines.
5. Ability to gather, analyze and present facts, communicate effectively, using tact and courtesy.
6. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines of management programs and functions of an organization.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
