You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST of COMMANDER - NAVAL INSTALLATIONS.
Duties
You will manage the development of new security classification guides so security personnel are able to identify and select the appropriate guide.
You will perform inspections to verify correct procedures and safeguarding of systems and materials are followed
You will maintain applicable Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) directives, manuals, and guidelines to interpret and adapt regulations.
You will administer all aspects of the security program to safeguard classified and unclassified information.
You will administer the security clearance program for assigned personnel to keep required clearances up-to-date.
You will administer the Command's security awareness programs to make sure employees have a shared understanding of their role and responsibility regarding security
Requirements

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to obtain a Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) or Physical Security Certification (PSC) within 2 years and maintain certification.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Serves as the Command Security Manager representing the command in matters pertaining to personnel, physical and information security; 2) Initiates actions for personnel security investigations and making sure they are kept up to date; 3) Responsible for control procedures for classified material to include proper handling of classified material; and 4) Use knowledge of information security controls, access controls, transmission of sensitive information and materials, and administer military and civilian personnel programs for acceptance, retention, appointment, or elimination from employment or military service.
