About the Position: This position is located at the Womack Army Medical Center; DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL HEALTH/FAMILY ADVOCACY. The incumbent provides overall guidance and direction for day-to-day tasks; performs a variety of clerical, administrative, and technical duties/responsibilities in support of management with the intent of accomplishing the assigned administrative requirements.

Duties

Performs a variety of clerical, administrative, and technical duties/responsibilities in support of management. Knowledge of both standardized and specialized processes and procedures for evaluating management or program operations in order to carry out the more complicated and/or innovative projects assigned. Accomplishes input to and reporting from the Defense Medical Human Resources System Internet (DMHRSi). Researches problems to provide recommendations for developing administrative reports. Knowledge of the organization and its functions and programs to answer inquiries of a general nature or refer to the responsible staff member. Transmits documents and messages electronically using Personal Computers or workstations. Assures the propriety of formats, spacing, arrangements, and preparation of material in final form as prescribed in style manuals.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing administrative duties within a medical office or hospital healthcare administration; utilizing healthcare software systems to input and retrieve medical data; operating various automated systems to prepare reports; and scheduling and canceling medical appointments using automated healthcare software systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-6). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementDecision MakingManages and Organizes InformationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-6). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
