This position is located on the Crops Pathology/Genetics Research Unit of the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Field Organization, Pacific West Area (PWA) in Davis, California.
In this position, you will provide technical and procedural advice in support of research program administration by identifying and analyzing issues and taking or recommending action using established guidelines.
Duties
Participates in the annual Resource Management Plan (ARMPS) process by assisting in developing and executing the annual budget
Distributes forms and instructions for annual performance ratings and ensures timely, proper completion.
Maintains tracking logs, action items, manages administrative suspense items and transaction records.
Maintains a detailed knowledge of travel policies and regulations in order to serve as a technical resource to unit personnel.
Uses an electronic calendar, database, or spreadsheet software to document employee leave schedules and to commit the research leader's time for appointments and meetings.
Prepares graphics, photos/slides, creates tables and graphs based on statistical data for research leader and professional staff for use in presentations at meetings, workshops, and conferences.
Provides training and advisory services to the research leader and professional staff in all program administrative procedures ensuring compliance with regulations.
Requirements

GS-06:
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-06 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-05 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience applying established guidelines involving program or administrative processes; assisting with office administration tasks including coordinating travel, ordering office supplies, or receiving leave requests; and using word processing programs to edit documents
GS-07:
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-07 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-06 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is participating in program planning support work such as research project coordination, travel documentation, budget coordination, purchasing and procurement of supplies and equipment; using a variety of graphical, spreadsheet, and database software for editing documents; and providing training and advisory services to the professional staff.
Applicants must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
