You will serve as a TRAINING SPECIALIST in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will design and determine course content, training aids, and instructional approach to support the training program. You will manage the training program for a wide variety of trade, technical, professional, and managerial positions. You will develop plans and schedules to deliver training and qualifications in support of all requirements and development plans. You will identify and coordinate appropriate vendors, venues, materials, communications and audio-visual facilities for the detachment’s training/development program. You will obtain and develops necessary training aids, course objectives, curricula, materials and training plans and determine class time schedules and sequences of instruction.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This may be a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You may be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector managing training resources and schedules and developing or adapting training curriculum to provide classroom instruction for a training and development program. For the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector coordinating training schedules and maintaining training management data to support the operations and delivery of a training and development program. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Substitution of education for GS-09:

Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:
Completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree (Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.)

Completion of 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree (Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.)
~OR~
Completion of a LL.B. or J.D., if related (Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.)

Substitution of education for GS-11:

Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:
Completion of Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree (Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.)

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree (Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.)
~OR~
LL.M., if related (Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.)
