About the Position: This is an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic position.
Duties
Repair, overhaul, modification, maintenance, and servicing of a variety of mobile related reach-in refrigerators; cold storage and cold room equipment; freezers, water coolers, dehumidifiers; and conditioning units and systems.
Diagnose and locate malfunction; disassembles, repairs, replaces or adjusts the more complex problems repairs to compressors, thermostats, pressurestats, humidistats, relays, switches, evaporators, condensers receivers and automatic control devices.
Modify, fabricate, and installs parts; works in accordance with technical manuals and specifications as required.
Requirements
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Pre-employment and annual physical.
- Up to 50% business travel.
- Must obtain and maintain an EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification within 6 months.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Installing and repairing large systems that provide for a variety of air conditioning functions. Install and repair a variety of domestic and commercial refrigeration and-air conditioning units and systems, install and repair large and complex heating units and systems composed of high-pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment, and diagnose the cause of faulty air conditioning and heating equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT
Frequently works in awkward positions, cramped are or hard to reach places. Work involves frequent bending, reaching, crouching, standing and arm movement. Mechanic carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. Often lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of other workers and lifting devices such as hoists, pulleys or cranes.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed inside and occasionally outside; shop area is heated and adequately ventilated; floors are concrete and grease, dirt and dampness is frequently encountered; area is noisy; variable temperatures occur when working in cold storage areas. Subject to possible injuries such as strains, sprains, cuts, bruises and electrical shock from hand and machine tools and dropped units end equipment. Frequent exposure to refrigerant gases end exhaust fumes; Follows numerous safety procedures and is required to wear protective gloves, goggles, mask, ear plugs, shoes or other safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the position.
