About the Position: Serves as a Family Advocacy Program Specialist under the general supervision of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) Manager, Army Community Service (ACS).

Duties

Provide specialized Family Advocacy Program (FAP) knowledge and technical guidance to installation organizations in program development, implementation, management, and evaluation. Plans, executes, and modifies the FAP installation training program designed to provide personnel information and guidance regarding program procedures to enhance. Execute policy guidance and regulatory standards for a family advocacy program.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Background/records checks, IAW DoDI 1402.05, AR 608-18 (MPs-NCIC, ASAP, ACR and State Child Protective Services) and Army directive 2014-23, IMCOM G9 Memorandum, dated 26 June 2015, directing a CNACI, are required for this position.
  • Temporary Duty Travel may be required 5% of the time.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Psychology, Psychiatry, Criminology, Sociology, Counseling or Social Work. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing professional social support services and education in the areas of domestic violence prevention, child abuse prevention, new parent support, or other related social services to service members, families, retirees, and federal civilians by obtaining information from customers in order to determine their needs; providing information and referrals to various social service programs; conducting group educational programs and coordinating work amongst peers and within working groups. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Social Work, Psychology, or Social Sciences. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
