About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The depot's enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. Duties

Work under the general supervision of the Chief of Police in terms of scope of responsibility, objectives, priorities, and deadlines. Serve as Captain of the Police and Security Branch, Law Enforcement Division, Directorate of Emergency Services, Red River Army Depot. Responsible for supervising through subordinate supervisors the day-to-day operations of a three-shift, Department of the Army Civilian Police organization: Patrol Section, Special Reaction Team, DAC Detective Section. Serve as an advisor to the Division Chief of Police and the Director of Emergency Services on law enforcement issues and related programs. Plan, schedule, and assign work on a daily basis through subordinate supervisors. Perform police officer duties when needed to assist in police operations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all requirements of the Army Regulation (AR) 190-56.
  • IAW AR 190-56 this position is covered by the Individual Reliability Program (IRP), and has been designated by Department of Army as critical to the national or internal security.
  • This position requires a successfully completion of the Civilian Education System Course and the Supervisory Development Course within 12 months in the position.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • This position requires incumbent to pass the physical agility test IAW Army Regulation 190-56 upon hire within 30 days, and annually thereafter.
  • This position authorizes the incumbent to carry a firearm. Must be proficient in the use of and qualify annually with assigned duty weapons. This position requires the passing of a semi-annual weapons qualification test.

More Conditions of Employment: This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position. Incumbent must wear uniform and maintain high state of appearance and hygiene (Local SOP and IAW AR 190-56). Incumbent must attend required technical training as directed by supervisor to enhance technical expertise in Communications, Investigations, and Operations. Must obtain and maintain the certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid training certification for the duration of employment.
