About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The depot's enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. Duties
Serve as Police Officer (Logistics) Red River Army Depot, Directorate of Emergency Services, Police Division.
Perform Police Officer duties independently as necessary to enforce federal laws.
Perform Anti-Terrorism (AT) duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts.
Serve as Hand Receipt Holder and conduct annual physical inventories of all non-expendable property on the property book.
Perform duties to inspect the issuance, receipt, and accountability of assigned firearms and sensitive items.
Serve as the Law Enforcement Division (LED), emergency vehicle fleet administrator and coordinator.
Assist in the administration of the Directorate Emergency Services budget.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster)
- This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position. This position requires incumbent to wear uniforms on duty. This position is subject to 24-hour recall back to duty.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
- Incumbent must participate in regularly scheduled training in the techniques of use of force, counter-terrorism, first aid, firearms, search and seizure, security operations and law enforcement.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
- In according with AR 190-56 this position is covered by the Individual Reliability Program (IRP), and has been designated by Department of Army as critical to the national or internal security.
- This position authorizes the incumbent to carry a firearm. Must be proficient in the use of and qualify annually with assigned duty weapons. This position requires the passing of a semi-annual weapons qualification test.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- This position requires the wear of personal protective equipment, to include Chemical protective equipment (gloves, masks, air purifying respirators (APR) and other associated equipment) IAW AR 50-6 Army Chemical Surety Program.
- This position requires incumbent to pass the physical agility test IAW Army Regulation 190-56 upon hire within 30 days, and annually thereafter.
- This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid training and must maintain certification for the duration of employment. (Note: Must upload a copy of your certificate to your application package)

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) performing law enforcement duties; 2) managing the daily operations of the emergency vehicle fleet; and 3) completing budgetary functions to ensure compliance. The OPM Qualification Standard states experience must have provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
