This position serves as Attorney-Adviser to a Member of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
The Board is responsible for the adjudication of unfair labor practice cases and representation cases arising under the provisions of the National Labor Relations Act of 1935, as amended.
Duties
As an Attorney-Adviser (Labor), GS- 0905- 11/12, your typical work assignments may include:
Researching statutes, decisions, legislative history, and other legal authorities arising under the National Labor Relations Act or similar statutes.
Applying applicable legal precedent to pertinent facts of a case. Analyzing the factual and legal issues presented to determine what, if any, further facts are needed and what legal precedent is applicable.
Drafting Board memoranda, Board decisions, Board Member opinions, and Bench Memorandums.
Orally presenting cases to the Board Members and discussing the merits and disposition of the cases.
Determining whether proposed decisions and opinions are in conformance with applicable law, Board precedent, and the Board Member's particular views.

IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT
The Ideal Candidate for the Attorney-Adviser (Labor) GS-11/12 position has expertise and knowledge in traditional labor law. The candidate should have experience providing legal analysis and advice, as well as drafting decisions for approval by superiors. Exemplary legal research and outstanding written and oral communications skills are vital. Prior experience in a judicial clerkship is deemed valuable.
BASIC REQUIREMENT
Must have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LL. B or J.D.).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications for GS-11
To qualify for this position, applicants must have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-09 grade level, which has provided them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the Attorney-Adviser (Labor) at the GS-11 grade level.
Specialized experience includes:
Experience working with federal or state labor, employment, or administrative law, or taking similar courses in law school; and
Assisting with researching statutes, decisions, opinions, or legislative history to ensure the appropriate use of legal authorities; and
Assisting with drafting legal memoranda.
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or possession of a LL.M. degree, if related. Graduate level education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

Applicants must be an active member of the Bar in good standing of any state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or any Territorial court under the U.S. Constitution. Your active Bar license must reference Bar number and indicate the status of good standing.
