You will serve as a SCHEDULING/PROTOCOL ASSISTANT in the Office of the Vice Chief of Naval Operations.

Duties

You will provide broad secretarial and administrative support to the Vice Chief of Naval Operations (VCNO). You will make necessary adjustments to the calendar and advisee all persons concerned. You will serve as technical expert when dealing in matters of Naval protocol, both within the military and the private sector. You will maintain and routinely update a directory of all VCNO contacts.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: 1) Preparing secretariat level correspondence and formats using high level of skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, to produce a wide range of formal documents; 2) Applying knowledge to difficult and complex work environments using comprehensive, intensive, practical knowledge of the DON, past VCNO practices and policies; 3) Implementing more effective office procedures and recognizing and adjusting to future administrative problems and situations; 4) Working knowledge of the customs and regulations dealing with domestic and foreign diplomatic formality, precedence and etiquette for both high Echelon military and civilian officials and Navy protocol; 5) Coordinating official social events and conferences, prepare correspondence for VCNO signature and greet office visitors; 6) Making arrangements for travel, conferences, and meetings.
