The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE) is a bureau within the United States Department of the Interior. OSMRE is responsible for establishing a nationwide program to protect society and the environment from the adverse effects of surface coal mining operations, under which OSMRE is charged with balancing the nation's need for continued domestic coal production with protection of the environment.
Duties
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE), Office of Administration (OA) in Washington, DC.
At the full performance level (GS-12) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Reviews, prioritizes, and addresses substantive and very complex issues impacting the planning, implementation, and evaluation of administrative programs.
2. Develops and recommends courses of action on a variety of tasks involving the administrative support mission of the Office of Administration.
3. Advises the Office Chief and program leads on critical issues resulting from conferences or committee meetings and recommends follow-up actions.
4. Coordinates proposed actions with other OSMRE elements as required.
5. Identify impediments to success, engage stakeholders to mitigate the impediments, demonstrate flexibility in work processes, and keep the supervisor informed of progress or areas where the supervisor's
involvement may be necessary.
OSMRE has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval and in accordance with Department of the Interior telework policy.
Salary Range Information:
GS-12: ($99,200 - $128,956) per annum.
First time hires to the federal government typically start at the beginning salary in the range for their respective grade level.
This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience for the series/grade to which you are applying.
Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-12, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) Enforcing and advising Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards to eliminate and/or control safety hazards in assigned areas. 2) Applying Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Incident Command System (ICS) principles and concepts to develop contingency procedures and guidelines in assigned areas. 3) Reviewing individual employee medical records and diagnoses to assess type and scope of potential occupational limitations; AND 4) Utilizing Environmental Management System (EMS) procedures and guidelines in assigned areas. Must Meet All.
