This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Shortage Category/Critical to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: The primary purpose of the position is to perform law enforcement work to maintain law and order, preserve the peace, protect life and civil rights, detect and investigate crimes, apprehend violators, and perform patrols within the jurisdiction of the military installation.
Duties
Assign work to be accomplished by subordinates based on priorities matching the difficulty and requirements of the assignments.
Perform supervisory and administrative duties relating to the police force.
Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data.
Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access to installation.
Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment.
Serve as shift supervisor for the Law Enforcement force.
Perform law enforcement work to maintain law and order, preserve the peace, protect life and civil rights, detect and investigate crimes, apprehend violators, and perform patrols within the jurisdiction of the military installation.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General or must graduate within one year of appointment.
- Must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
- This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
- This position is considered a mission essential position.
- This position requires the incumbent to be able obtain and maintain a valid Tier 2 (Secret) security investigation.
- This position is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
- This position subjects the incumbent to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- A one year supervisory trial/probationary period may be required.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position subjects the employee to the provisions of the Federal Workplace Drug Testing Program.
- Incumbent must pass entry level and annual re-certification of Standard Army Physical Fitness Test.IAW AR 190-56.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license throughout incumbent's employment period.
- Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preventing, detecting, and investigating accidents, crimes, and misconduct, apprehending violators, assisting citizens in emergency situations, maintaining order, protecting life, property and the civil rights of individuals, and assisting in the prosecution of criminals.

This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position. The employee is subject to removal from the position if convicted of a felony(ies) IAW Section 639 of P.L. 106-554 effective January 20, 2001.
If graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, certificate MUST be uploaded.
