The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Human Resources (HR) Specialist (Classification) in the Air Force Material Command (AFMC) with responsibility for planning, developing, and carrying out the full range of position classification and position management advisory services for assigned organizations.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Administrative and Management Positions. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least three years of general experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band (NH-01) or equivalent in other pay systems. General experience is progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to: 1. Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; 2. Plan and organize work; and 3. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. OR EDUCATION: a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: ??????? equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and general experience as outlined above. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of the full range of classification and position management principles, concepts, practices, and techniques, and of the relationships of other HR specialties to classification. 2. Ability to research, gather facts, and use effective analytical and evaluative methods to accurately assess information and make sound decisions involving position management problems. 3. Ability to maintain harmonious relations with managers, supervisors, employees, co-workers, and others, to ensure cooperative resolution of conflicts, and to provide effective coordination of activities. 4. Ability to express ideas and concepts orally and in writing, and to ensure understanding and acceptance of findings in reports. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
