Duties

As a Public Health Analyst (Policy) you will: Acts as a senior advisor to organization's leadership team on matters related to the strategic direction of the organization as well as on the status and impact of policies or potential policies (such as legislation or administration directives) likely to influence that direction. Responsible for the development of all visible and influential statements regarding program policy, goals, and direction (including the development of new budget initiatives) and ensuring that these positions are consistent with the organization's mission and long and short-term goals Perform independent policy research, and or policy evaluation, as well as other programmatic activities to further organization's goals and objectives. Develop and maintain systems to analyze complex and highly visible actions such as legislation, executive directives, Departmental policy issuances, voluntary changes in practice by influential organizations or groups, as well as other influential statements of policy with the potential to impact the activities of the division and center. Manage the processes for the establishment and tracking of the organization's goal setting efforts and is responsible for the overall completeness and quality of a comprehensive plan. Coordinate complex evaluation tasks such as the application of agency, department, and/or government wide evaluation efforts, and is responsible for ensuring completeness and quality of the organization's submissions to these efforts. Supervise a small contingent of positions and functions.

Qualifications

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level, which must include the following experience: leading, advising, directing, and overseeing national public health policy activities including internal and external partnerships and legislative engagement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.

College or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to Department of Education Accreditation page.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
