Duties
As a Supervisory Public Health Advisor you will:
Serve as the division's most senior management official, speaks for and communicates on behalf of DHP for all financial, workforce development, operations and resource management matters. Stay abreast of leading-edge practices in all domain areas. Provides guidance and leadership in implementing CDC directives. Work internally and externally to communicate the strategic direction for NCHHSTP and DHP.
Provide advice and consultation to the Director and Principal Deputy Director, in the development of strategic plans, policies and procedures on program management and operations; will direct operational decisions affecting the size, scope, and direction for DHP programs.
Serve as the official responsible for workforce management; and serves as the official responsible for improving business services, practices, and systems through effective and efficient strategic thinking, critical analyses, resource, and performance management, change leadership, business policy development, communications, and customer relations management.
Exercise program management and operational responsibility for planning and development of national and international HIV prevention program activities.
Provide leadership on issues management, budget formulation, and performance integration.
Supervise a contingent of staff and direct, coordinate, and oversee work through subordinate team leaders.
Advise staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher-level management or headquarters.
Establish an overall positive working environment that enables DHP to effectively and efficiently perform its complex cross-cutting, multi-layered, multi-dimensional mission in infectious diseases.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which must include the following experience: providing guidance related to oversight and direction of strategic program and budget initiatives; fiscal management, oversight, execution, and accountability; workforce development and planning; and organizational planning and operations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
College or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to
