About the Position: Receives general supervision from the assigned program director or Department Chief who allows the incumbent freedom of action as an independent professional in dealing with assigned caseload. Incumbent is expected to make decisions and recommendations with a minimum of supervisory guidance.

Duties
Collect bio-psycho-social information about patients using interview, case history, and observation techniques and assessment methods.
Analyze information collected to determine diagnosis, treatment plan and/or advisability of counseling or referral to other specialists or institutions.
Provide individual, family, and group clinical counseling services to identify and manage personal, psychological and interactive problems
associated with occupation and personal adjustment.
Develop individual treatment plans based on psychiatric diagnosis, identified problems, and treatment needs for each case.
Evaluate treatment effectiveness and make adjustments to patient's treatment plans as appropriate.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty
during inclement weather conditions.
- This position requires occasional TDY - 5%.
- ALL EMPLOYESS ASSIGNED TO A MTF ARE REQUIRED TO BE SCREENED FOR APPLICABLE IMMUNIZATIONS REGARDLESS OF SERIES, BASED ON
OCCUPATIONAL RISK, AND ARE SUBJECT TO MISSING/REQUIRED IMMUNIZATIONS IAW AR 40-562, CHAPTERS 3 and 4.
- This position requires credentialing. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to meet credentialing requirements.
- This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Red Cross. Must obtain within 30 days of
employment and maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Incumbent may be required to perform call duties; work overtime to include weekends and federal holidays, out of cycle, or unscheduled training or on an emergency basis.
- Valid state license as a clinical social worker.
- Incumbent will have to pass a pre-employment physical to meet Physical Efforts requirements. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
- This position requires the ability to lift 30 lbs.
- The work will require the incumbent to work evenings/nights, rotating shifts, extended hours or other schedules common to hospital operations.
- You must undergo a specific initial background checks, investigation and periodic re-verification check of multiple agency records to obtain and maintain a suitable determination to occupy a position having regular contact with children.

Basic Requirements for Social Worker (Clinical):
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. (You MUST submit a copy of your transcript with your application package or you will be rated ineligible.)
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.
Specialized experience is defined as: conducting psychosocial evaluations, formulating behavioral health interventions and providing case management services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the
qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Licensure: This position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
