About the Position: Serves as a project manager responsible for managing the efficient and effective coordination and accomplishment of the planning, scoping, design, construction, and direction of assigned Civil Works water resources projects.

Duties

Responsible for managing the efficient and effective coordination and accomplishment of the planning, scoping, design, construction, and direction of assigned Civil Works water resources projects. Projects may include dams, water diversion structures, bridges, flood walls, levees, river control structures, bypasses, flood plains, environmental restoration, relocations, rights-of-way and operations and maintenance aspects. Integrates customer requirements and participation into a comprehensive management plan that is fully coordinated with all contributing agencies and functional elements within the District. Establishes responsibilities and sets expectations; controls and manages assigned projects' budget and schedule; assures the District commitments to the customer are met.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

  • A valid state's drivers license is required.
  • Acquisition Facility Engineering, DAWIA level 2 must be obtained within 24 months

In addition to meeting the basic education requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirement listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in various project phases such as feasibility studies, design, and construction of projects for the purposes of providing Flood Risk Management and/or Ecosystem Restoration for levees, dams, river corridors, or other water resource projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Oral CommunicationPlanning and EvaluatingProject ManagementTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
