You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT/SYSADMIN) in the NAVY SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT ACTIVITY. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.

Duties

You will serve as the System Administrator for the organizational IT network supporting NELODET and fleet customers. You will perform actions on all applicable IT System Administration customer service requests, perform the Communication Security Local Element Representative role, and provide IT System Administration support to the IT network and infrastructure. You will serve as the NMCI Assistant Contract Technical Representative (CTR) for NELODET and ensure communication with the Command’s Assistant Technical Representative for all NMCI matters. You will serve as the custodian for hardware and other materials located at NELODET, Norfolk, VA to include formal appointment in writing and performing monthly, annual, and/or ad-hoc inventory audits. You will serve as a system administrator for the organizational IT network supporting NELODET, Norfolk, VA.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment/fail to pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty areas Tech Support Specialist/System Admin level 2 within 12 months of appointment.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the excepted service which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
  • PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as the following: 1) Serving as a COMSEC Local Element Representative providing timely support and assistance to a customer base; 2) Utilizing wide range of telecommunications and computer techniques, requirements, methods, sources and procedures combined with in-depth knowledge of server virtualization technologies, desktop virtualization technologies, operating systems software, hardware, network management systems, automation scripting and remote access; 3) Setting up offices and workspaces with IT equipment (to include desktop client, telephones, monitors, video teleconference systems, and peripherals) to ensure equipment is configured. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
