About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Human Resources Command, Fort Knox, KY. Serves as a Personnel Security Assistant in the Special Actions Branch, Enlisted Personnel Management Division.
Duties
Receive and review requests for security eligibility for all military personnel assigned as an Individual Ready Reserve (IRR), Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA), or a Retiree Recall member of the Army Reserves.
Review position and MOS requirements to determine security clearance investigation/requirement.
Conduct appropriate Local records file checks (LRFC) consisting of medical, personnel, provost, and miscellaneous records a required by appropriate regulations, directives, and policies.
Direct the preparation of Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP) system forms, fingerprint cards and other associated security clearance forms.
Initiate, process, review, and approve e-QIP security clearance requests and clearance packets to ensure accuracy and completeness before submission to Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
Provide data necessary for the Security Manager to grant/deny interim access to classified information pending receipt of final eligibility (clearance) from U.S. Army Central Clearance Facility (Army CCF).
Request additional information or supporting documentation when derogatory information is present.
Maintain a suspense file on all clearance packets to be processed.
Process classified information Nondisclosure Agreements for all personnel before access to classified information is granted.
Safeguard security investigative files and records with the highest degree of discretion.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a T5 (or equivalent level) investigation with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- Temporary duty (TDY) travel may be required 5% or less of the time.
- Duty outside of normal duty hours may be required.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing at least two of the following Personnel Security functions: reviewing security clearance applications for accuracy and completion of information, presenting security briefings or debriefings, maintaining security files using automated systems and databases, preparing forms for entry into Electronic Questionnaires for Investigation Processing (e-QIP). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-08).
