About the Position: Serves as the Mobile District Dam Safety Manager to ensure the safety and operational adequacy of numerous structures in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi.

Duties

At the full performance level, the duties will include the following: Manages the periodic inspection and assessment schedules for the execution of this program. Participates in special inspections where potential problems exist, with responsibility for ensuring the District is in compliance with Regulations in regards to safety of the dams within the District. Host and/or attend meetings with higher authorities within USACE and high level officials to represent the agency in reporting the status of important Dam Safety projects. Host meetings with in-house technical teams and/or engineering consultants to manage and provide technical expertise in the area of Dam safety and civil works designs. Responsible for managing and ensuring the Project Development teams are developing quality technical products such as studies and designs, which must be presented and defended at the regional and national level. Providing expert technical input and guidance on a variety of matters relating to the classification, maintenance and modernization of dam structures with minimum supervision. Provides leadership to multidisciplinary team in applying the latest regulation/guidance to ensure that products are in compliance. Serves as Dam Safety Program Manager and coordinates between District personnel and higher authority in scheduling any needed inspections and training by setting workload priorities and preparing schedules for completion of work. Functions as the Dam Safety Program Manager with the responsibility of managing the project scope, budget, and schedule to ensure technical quality of Engineering and Construction deliverables.

Salary Range for the 0810-12/13 Series is: $101,732 - $141,638. Salary Range for the 1350-12/13 Series is: $86,962 - $134,435. Specialized Experience for the GS-13: One year of specialized experience in at least two of the four criteria which includes: 1) Preparing documentation associated with Dam Safety Programs; 2) Serving as technical lead/steward for dam safety projects; 3) Providing engineering analysis to civil works projects; conduct independent technical reviews of the engineering portions of in-house designs and of Architecture & Engineering (AE) scopes of work; 4) Serves on the District's Dam Safety Project Development Team providing expert technical input and guidance on a variety of matters relating to the classification, maintenance and modernization of dam structures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
