About the Position: Serves as a Dredge Material Management Project Manager in the Mobile District. Functions as a product delivery team leader for projects within the nations third largest dredging program including seven deep draft harbors, 21 shallow draft ports, and 2200 miles of inland waterways encompassing parts of four states. Manages the District's dredge material management program and the concept development, establishment and implementation.

Duties

Serves as a District’s Dredge Material Management (DMM) Project Manager as well as the Beneficial Uses of Dredged Material (BUDM) and Regional Sediment Management (RSM) Project Manager Responsible for the overall management, control, marketing, coordination and execution of assigned inland and coastal projects. Provides District leadership and commitment for inland and coastal Dredge Material Management (DMM) goals and objectives as well as the Beneficial Uses of Dredged Material (BUDM) and Regional Sediment Management (RSM). Represents the District at technical meetings and workshops to gain insight on latest technologies, exchange technical information, and determine application to the Mobile District’s beneficial use program. Represents the District Commander, serving as the point of contact for projects assigned with sponsor/customer, private companies, Federal, State and local Government agencies, and other external organizations and higher authorities. Makes recommendations to Chief of Operations on short-term and long-term plans to assure engineering and environmental sufficiency in the District’s dredged material disposal program Manages the District’s dredge material management program and the concept development, establishment and implementation of major projects for the beneficial uses of dredged material and regional sediment management.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required specialized experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using specialized experience alone--no substitution of education for the specialized experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)Project ManagementTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
