About the Position: Incumbent executes the MRC Readiness support plan initiatives. Term Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE two years. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. See Additional Information section below for more information.

Duties

Serves as the Readiness Specialist with the Medical Readiness Command (MRC). Maintaining plans for application during mobilization, demobilization, deployment, and redeployment of Brigade Combat Team (BCT) size organizations or augment with individual soldiers located in multiple states. Research, analysis, development, and preparation of the regional support plan to ensure units within the MRC are medically resourced and prepared to deploy. Remains in constant communication with contacts on current mobilization, demobilization, deployments and redeployments.

Requirements

  • This is a Term position scheduled to last two years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.
  • Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
  • Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementPlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
