You will serve as a Claims Assistant (OA) in the Tort Claims Unit (TCU) of )'s Red Hill Claims and Litigation Branch, under the Office of the Judge Advocate General (OJAG) Code 15 (Admiralty and Claims Division), NLSC.
Duties
You will screen incoming correspondence, claims investigative reports, and supporting documentation submitted with the claims to ensure completeness.
You will initiate correspondence, draft and type correspondence into final format letters, and memoranda in accordance with established standards.
You will identify and rectify discrepancies in file documentation, including missing information required to properly initiate a claim and input information into the claim database.
You will perform various administrative duties such as answering phones, sending and receiving faxes, photocopying, monitoring supplies, answering general questions, and referring questions to appropriate staff.
You will maintain and track checks received in payment of claims.
Requirements

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying knowledge of reviewing, administering, or processing claims. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Reviewing incoming claims to ensure adequacy of supporting documentation; 2) Utilizing databases and word processing systems to process information and prepare outgoing correspondence or documents; 3) Responding to basic inquiries regarding files; and 4) Performing general clerical duties.
