You will serve as an Air Conditioning Equip Mechanic Training Work Leader in the Production Division, Public Works Department Norfolk, of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will demonstrate proper work methods and ensure team is instructed on work requirements, sequence, procedures, and deadlines to be met. You will report to supervisor on status and progress of work and causes for work delay. You will make recommendations on trade training, objectives or curriculum, new training or trade tools to support the efficient and effective delivery of products and services. You will Coordinate in-house technical trade training for PWD supervisors and trade employees. You will repair HVAC systems and components in structures such as, warehouses, hangars, hospitals, large office buildings and complexes.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work may require overnight travel for multiple days away from the normal duty station. Travel by air is required. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CFC/HFC Certification (Universal) as required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • This position may be considered Essential, and the incumbent will be required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during, and/or after emergency situations, disasters, or periods of increased security threat.
  • Must have a current state-issued Journeyman or Master’s license in HVAC (or equivalent).
  • You will be required to obtain CPR certification.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO INSTRUCT; 1) Applying knowledge and skill in the principles and theories of air conditioning and refrigeration; 2) Providing technical trade expertise to the associated Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic (ACEM) trade workforce and Production Division Supervisors in the PW ;3) Diagnosing, locating and repairing malfunctions to the main operating mechanical components of large, complex heating, ventilation; air conditioning, and refrigeration systems (HVAC).
