You will serve as a AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR in the Air Condition & Refrigeration ( AC&R) Branch (Code 945), Machine Division (Code 940), production Department (Code 900), Norfolk Ship Support Activity (NSSA) of MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CTR.
Duties
You will supervise five or more subordinate Air Conditioning Mechanics.
You will be responsible for supervising workers, either directly or through subordinate leaders, in accomplishing trades and labor work operations.
You will develop performance standards, counsels employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals.
You will advise and counsel workers on how to improve their performance and explain new work techniques; determine training needs of subordinates and arrange the training with appropriate agencies.
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Establishing trade practices, processes and techniques of Air conditioning and associated equipment aboard US Naval ships, determining how many assignments can be done concurrently, which ones must be delayed, and the number and types of employees needed, considering skills, personnel, materials, and equipment available and required and redirecting individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work.( e.g., work resulting from "open and inspect" types of work orders).
Investigating work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determining causes to implement corrective actions within their authority to resolve work problems.
Planning weekly and monthly work schedules and the sequence of operations for subordinates and establishing deadlines, priorities on the basis of general work schedules, methods, and policies established by higher levels of supervision.
