You will serve as a AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will interpret drawings, manufacturer manuals, or work instructions to determine parts or equipment needed to repair air conditioning systems. You will inspect heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC) equipment to verify the equipment and component parts are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition. You will disassemble, replace, and adjust thermostats, pressure stats, hemostats, relays, switches, and other automatic control devices to verify working condition of air conditioning systems. You will conduct research and inspect heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to determine cost effective repair solutions. You will troubleshoot and repair defective parts and components of heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems to verify operating condition. You will provide guidance on procedures, principles, and knowledge related to trade and craft practices.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CPR certification.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Interpreting instructions, specifications and blueprints to repair air conditioning and refrigeration systems; 2) Troubleshooting air conditioning and refrigeration system operations to detect component malfunctions; and 3) Installing and repairing a variety of large commercial and industrial refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment.
