About the Position: This position is located in the Nutrition Care department, Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Cavazos, Texas.

Duties

Answer workers questions regarding general operating procedures and established policies. Follow directions in assembling, measuring, weighing, or mixing ingredients for basic formulas and other supplemental feedings. Take nourishment inventories, replaces expired bulk items and labels. Perform duties that require proficiency in special procedures and a broad knowledge of service operations, such as food preparation, dry and refrigerated storage, and food and beverage serving. Make final check of diet trays assembled by lower grade worker for completeness, correct food temperature, and verifies that food items on the tray are appropriate for the prescribed diet. Use portion control scales and measuring devices to apportion individual items according to standardized recipes. Use a computer terminal to record and retrieve recipes, menus and inventory data. Apply special sanitary techniques in preparing formulas and tube feedings, such as sterilizing equipment and sanitizing work areas.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
• This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).
• This position may require the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays.

The work area is well lighted but usually noisy from food service activities, and there is danger of slipping on floors where food or beverages have been dropped. Is regularly exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces, and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration or freezing units. Hearing protective devices and/or other protective devices and/or safety equipment must be worn during all periods of time incumbent is exposed to the hazardous condition(s).
