This position serves as an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC) providing IT infrastructure, systems and information security services that the DOJ components use and rely on to meet their mission requirements. This position is located in the Department of Justice (DOJ), Justice Management Division (JMD), Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Service Delivery Staff (SDS), Infrastructure and Operations Section (I&O), in Washington, DC.

The duties and responsibilities as an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC) GS-2210-12 generally include, but are not limited to the following: Planning and coordinating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems. Resolving hardware/software interface and interoperability problems; ensuring systems availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency, while maintaining systems configuration. Supports Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) to include Unix, operating systems, Mobility and Windows administration work. Assists with policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility. Prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC) at (GS-2210-12), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade. Basic Qualifications (2210 series): Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attention to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized Experience is defined as: Experience in service platforms (UNIX, operating systems, backup, Windows and Mobility); AND Participates in planning and coordinating installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems; AND Demonstrating knowledge of IT cloud technology, theories, methods, and practices related to Cloud Platform Support Services You MUST meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/08/2024.
