About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Forces Command, 101st ABN Div Senior Cdr Aug, G-2 Security, Fort Campbell, KY 42223. Duty Station Location: Fort Campbell, KY

Duties

Serves as Special Security Officer (SSO) with functional responsibility for development, implementation, and overall management of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) programs and multiple facilities (SCIF). Provides training and guidance to SSOs and Special Security Representatives (SSR) within the Sensitive Compartmented Facilities (SCIFs). Interfaces with other corps, division, or combat training center (CTC) and FORSCOM Command SSO on a variety of security issues. Develops, implements and monitors instructions, procedures, and control systems to prevent the compromise or loss of classified defense information/material, including classified management and in-depth support to Special Access Programs.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • May require temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 25% of time.
  • Periodically, especially during periods of crisis, will be required to work overtime/irregular shifts.
  • This position requires obtaining the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within first two years of employment and the Physical Security Certification (PSC) within the next year.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

Specialized experience is defined as: managing and executing Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and/or Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
