About the Position: The installation rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio.
Duties
You will serve as Plans Officer in the Plans and Operations Division engaged in the development of installation goals and objectives, establishment of long-range plans to execute peacetime, transition to war, and wartime missions.
Responsible for coordinating, developing, and testing facility and installation emergency preparedness plans designed to protect the installation from a naturally occurring hazards, hazard material accident and/or terrorist related incidents.
Serve as Staff Action Officer for Contingency Plans. Interprets plans, doctrine and regulatory references from higher headquarters to meet operational planning goals and guidelines.
Assist the Chief, Plans in interagency coordination and synchronization required to sustain readiness for all emergency response programs for the installation, community, state, and federal emergency responders.
Review Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and/or Memorandums of Agreements (MOAs) between Fort Cavazos and local community emergency response facilities/organizations.
Present briefings, conducts IO meetings and leads discussions related to long-range planning issue.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting detailed analysis of emergency response plans to ensure they meet standards in accordance with regulations and program plans such as Continuity of Operations Plans, Emergency Action Plans and Incident Management Response Plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
