Duties

The primary purpose of this position is: To analyze data, interpret student flow data, student records and trainee training data through the student accounting functions of the Air Force Oracle Training Administrator (OTA) and the Technical Training Management System (TTMS) microfiche, filing systems and local databases. Analyzes, verifies and validates trainee status codes, reject error reports, student status change actions and Student Training Records (AETC Form 156 or AETC From 325). Authenticates copies of Student Training Reports, validates and certifies student training, and provides official transcripts to requesting agencies. Manages the trainee elimination program (AETC Forms 125/125a). Uses varied functions of office automation software to produce a wide variety of documents that often require complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, editing and reformatting electronic drafts, and updating or revising existing databases or spreadsheets.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, for the GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of program objectives, policies, procedures, or pertinent regulatory requirements affecting tasks involved in training data systems and processes. Knowledge of TTMS, OTA, and knowledge of training data processing rules, operations and procedures to resolve trainee accounting problems. Knowledge of data system control language to ensure transactions are properly reported in multiple systems. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. A qualified typist is not required. Knowledge of systems operating codes in order to monitor the systems to ensure trainee-training requirements are met. Knowledge of program data contents and methods for defining and retrieving non-standard data and reports. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of four (4) years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of education and training systems, student flow management, student data and record management, and student administration. 2. Ability to read, interpret, comprehend and follow regulations, manuals, pamphlets and operating instructions. 3. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 4. Ability to analyze complex programming flow between multiple data systems, interpret errors and propose solutions. 5. Knowledge of filing systems and procedures and the subject matter content of the materials being processed. 6. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. A qualified typist is not required. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
