The Transportation Assistant position works with the VTS Supervisory Mobility Manager for transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, evaluation and ongoing operational flow of the Veteran Transportation Services (VTS) program.
This position is located at the Audie L. Murphy VAMC in San Antonio, Texas within Associate Director Service.
Duties
Duties may include but are not limited to:
-Collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information in support of Veteran Transportation Service (VTS).
-Evaluate documents, e.g., sampling plans, permit applications and other data collection forms.
-Maintains automated system of program-specific data to track items such as service project milestones, progress reports, program trends, performance measures, compliance strategies, etc.
-Utilizes the Veterans Health Information System & Technological Architecture (VISTA), Computerized Patient Record Systems (CPRS) or SharePoint Consult/Request Tracking System in processing internal consultations.
-Responds to "action required" notifications, ensuring the primary providers are correct.
-Provides advice to operating managers and supervisors on how provided services assist in accomplishing their missions and programs.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 7:30a.m. to 4:00p.m., 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m., or 10:00a.m. to 6:30p.m.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/13/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Ability to prepare and produce written instructions, and a variety of correspondence; Knowledgeable in regard to consult management, scheduling, admissions, discharge, transfer, and administration with patient processing; Knowledge of structure of electronic medical records; Proficient in using Microsoft software and other software programs.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds.
