About the Position: You will serve as an Exercise Support and Knowledge Management Officer within the Training and Exercise Division and you will be responsible for providing sustainment support for joint exercises and events, support all Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) events, and oversee the Government Purchase Card (GPC) program for the organization. This position is located at the Exercises and Coalition Affairs Director of Public-Private Cooperation Division, USSOUTHCOM in Miami, Florida.
Duties
Coordinates and executes sustainment support for USSOUTHCOM J7/9-3 led exercises and events and knowledge management within the Division.
Coordinates, executes, and oversees sustainment requirements for selected USSOUTHCOM joint exercises.
Collaborates with USSOUTHCOM staff members, components, interagency, partner nation, and other exercise participants and ensure all conference and exercise support requirements are met.
Provides administrative support, transportation support, room configuration, room clearance procedures, security plans, and attendee security clearance verification.
Coordinates with exercise lead planners ensuring the USSOUTHCOM J7/9-3 SharePoint Sites (NIPR and SIPR) are current and organized.
Works with exercise action officers and components to make sure exercise sites are accurate and up to date.
Serves as the primary Government Purchase Cardholder (GPC) for the Division and supports exercise planning and execution.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This is a Term position scheduled to last 5 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.
- Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 30% of the time.

Current Department of Army Civilian Employees
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes planning, coordinating, and executing sustainment support for joint exercises and events; AND supporting all Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) events and serving as the Government Purchase Card Holder for the organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
