About the Position:
The purpose of the work is to plan and execute a program of activities related to the agency's interface with Congress. It covers the full range of the US Southern Command mission and includes developing a Command strategy for congressional relations, servicing as interface to integrate the congressional activities of the Civil Works, Military, and Support for other programs throughout the Command.
Duties
Conducts direct and routine senior level interface with Congressional Staffs and Members to facilitate a constant dialogue between U.S. Southern Command and Congress.
Provides assistance at hearings of congressional bodies.
Prepares Security Cooperation Officers for congressional delegation visits to ensure the synchronization of U.S. Southern Command messaging.

Collaborates with the Commander, Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff, Security Cooperation Officers and directors in the development of a Command congressional strategy that addresses legislative priorities.
Monitors Congressional hearings and senior level Defense testimony and official statements, providing the command staff with analysis and advice on potential impacts, trends and measures to influence the outcome.
Requirements

- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Position is designated Critical-Sensitive (3) requiring a TOP SECRET security clearance. Incumbent must obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
- The incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R (Identified as Critical Under the Drug Abuse Testing Program) and must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.

Specialized Experience required at the GS-15:
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: Conducting direct and routine senior level interface with Congressional Staffs and Members to facilitate a constant dialogue; Providing assistance at hearings of congressional bodies; Analyzing congressional news sources to identify important Members and Staff relevant to organizational missions; Directing the efforts of a staff to provide technical, expert analysis/advice on congressional affairs; Performing a full range of personnel management activities such as, approving leave; resolving complaints/grievances; and keeping employees informed on personnel policies.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
NOTE: Ability to speak Spanish is desired but not required.
