You will serve as a SUPERVISOR ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS SHOP in the ELECTRICAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will provide long and short range planning for assigned projects. You will conduct periodic cost and schedule adherence analyses with appropriate corrective action. You will coordinate work projects and workers to appropriately balance support for all assigned projects. You will plan, schedule and assign work to subordinate supervisors, shop planners and staff.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience determining work priorities and coordinating work between projects and trades to ensure progress of work. *Experience managing shop work operations and supervising several supervisors in various trades including electrical, electronics, and toolroom/production machinery repair. *Experience providing input for the project scheduling and sequencing process. *Experience communicating information concerning required material, facilities, resources, and grouping of work for assigned area to project team members. *Experience performing ship repair and overhaul and using shipyard instructions to ensure the progress of work.
