The primary purpose of this position is to manage and administer physical, information and special access programs for a complex aircraft maintenance squadron. The employee serves as a security expert to the 509th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Commander and senior squadron leadership.
Duties
Serves as the Special Access Program (SAP), Activity Security Manager (ASM) for a complex aircraft maintenance squadron.
Develops, manages, monitors and coordinates the overall security administration programs for a complex aircraft maintenance squadron.
Serves as a security expert to senior squadron leaders on all security functions. Processes, clearances/restricted area badge actions for a complex aircraft maintenance squadron.
Implements policies and procedures covering the safeguarding of classified information.

- Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes applying knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review, independently analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems; apply policy direction to contractors and government/military officials, and develop guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various levels or degrees of security controls.

EDUCATION: master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security procedures for physical, personnel, and information security programs within the organization. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs.
Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating multiple security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the organization.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
Knowledgeable of the requirements to effectively implement, manage and advise the certifying official on the unit Personnel Reliability Program.
Knowledgeable on security requirements for controlled, restricted, limited and exclusion areas.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
