You will serve as a Firefighter in the Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services Branch of MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR.

Duties

You will perform engine company inspections and building pre-plans, looking for infractions and the locations of local alarm and sprinkler systems, power, water, and gas shutoffs, noting all hazardous storage or conditions inside and outside. You will perform station, grounds, apparatus, and equipment maintenance. You will carry out evacuation drills, reset sprinkler and local alarm systems. You will participate in public education activities.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position requires rotating shift work.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid California States driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
  • The incumbent must be certified at the appropriate firefighting certification levels as outline in the DODI 6055.6M, Department of Defense (DOD) Fire and Emergency Services Certification Program.
  • Must obtain Inland County Emergency Medical Agency (ICEMA) certification within 60 days of hire.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a HAZMAT Awareness and HAZMAT Operations certifications as outlined in DODI 1400.25 Vol 336.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • Successful completion of a California State Emergency Medical Technician (GMT/AED) or recertification program is required at time of application.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Inspecting facilities and structures for fire hazards and fire protection deficiencies, interpreting code regulations and directives, conducting troubleshooting as required for facilities, AND providing training on fire safety practice and procedures. This is a firefighter position.
