Will serve as a special assistant and key employee of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS), overseeing the synchronization of the CJCS calendar. The incumbent collaborates with entities across the DoD and federal government to schedule events in support of CJCS priorities. Responsible for ensuring in-office events are executed in a professional manner and communicates key information on dynamic changes to the calendar across the Joint Staff.

Duties

As a STAFF ASSISTANT at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include: Responsible for all aspects of scheduling for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Synchronizes events in time and space in accordance with priorities received from the CJCS and CJCS XO. Manages dynamic changes to the calendar as they occur and ensures key personnel are kept abreast of changes. Briefs CJCS twice daily on the calendar, and biweekly on the midterm calendar. Coordinates across the Joint Staff and with OSD to ensure longer-term events are captured on the calendar. Contributes to the development of digital systems for calendar and event management, including analysis of CJCS time utilization. Coordinates with the Aide-de-Camp and House Aides to develop CJCS uniform and dining plan. Ensures the timely execution of in-office events, including coordination with the OCJCS Protocol and Communications teams. Observes proper etiquette in interactions with senior officials and their staffs. Maintains a high level of discretion with sensitive information.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: Applies a wide range of laws, executive orders, regulations, policies, directives, instructions, and concepts governing the full spectrum of executive level operations for civilian and military command structures. Provide administrative coordination, program/projects support, funding issues, policy changes, administrative and legislative directions for senior level officials at the Senior Executive Service (SES) and senior Military level (4-star General) levels. Independently provided executive office administrative work, which includes scheduling, emails, reports, tracking suspense items and projects, preparing travel related documents, and overseeing all administrative correspondence for senior leaders and staff. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
