About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the National Ground Intelligence Center, Science and Technology Directorate, A2AD Division, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
Duties
Serves as an intelligence analyst, with responsibility for production of finished scientific and technical (S and T) intelligence products;
including forecasts and overall capabilities assessments for reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition systems, with an emphasis on air defense radars.
Determines the characteristics of current foreign military systems and predicts future capabilities and battlefield effectiveness of such systems.
Scientific and technical intelligence analysis requires incumbent to apply knowledge of the collected intelligence data, scientific, engineering (specifically, thermodynamics, mechanics, electronics, and use of energy), or technical principles;
weapon technology, combat environments, and tactics to develop an assessment of foreign nations' military intentions and the capabilities, limitations, and vulnerabilities of their military systems or processes.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GG/GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes an understanding of radar and RF phenomenon; RF generators, waveforms, signal processing, radar algorithms, and radar performance analysis. Focus is on ground-based radar systems.
